I've had this nagging sore throat for about 15 hours now, not even sure where I got it. It was just a bother most of the day, but right now I can barely talk, and it feels like I attempted to swallow a whole pineapple.
Anyway, I've gotten back to traditional cartooning this week, after some considerations about my HousePetz
comic. Several things needed to change, and that's why I went three weeks without touching it. So, I've determined this:
The comic should be done as traditionally as possible, including speech bubbles and letters - unlike my original plan.
The name will change, since there are already two webcomics associated with the same name. I will simply do as some professional comic artists and writers suggest, and name the comic after the lead character. The comic will simply be called "Angus!", perhaps with a subtitle, like "...and the Power-Pets" or something of that nature.
So, I've been practising inking, and my quality so far is coming out like this:
Got some posing practise in, but I screwed up by using regular pencil when I should have used blue non-copy. If I wanted to finish this and clean it up right, I'd have to take the time to erase all the pencil and re-ink (Since the ink will fade) before I can clean it up and colour. Now, I don't think Angus here really needs much more work, but just more practise. On the other hand, there's his partner-in-crime-fighting in the story, Koshka:
I did this one the same way, actually having to erase lines and darken the ink again. I actually made this picture for a new group as well, OC-training
, which is holding a 15-week character development course, starting May 30. You can only use ONE OC, so I picked Koshka, for the sake of improving her character. I'd suggest having a look at this group, for anyone who has an OC they want to improve on.
Once I feel better about inking, I plan to get to work on page 1, and set up a site for the comic on ComicFury.com. In the meantime, I'm hoping for feedback or suggestions, if anyone has some.
